Courses of Instruction
As a university instructor, Erik Rigler has taught the following courses for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University:
- Aviation Safety
Study of aviation safety designed for non-flying students. Analysis of major problem areas, program evaluation, impact of accidents on the industry, human factors, accident prevention, basic principles of investigation, case surveys.
- Safety Program Management
Study of principles of the development and management of an effective safety program. Examination of philosophy and historical development of major concepts, with emphasis on areas of special concern in organizational accident prevention. Analysis of the influence of morale, education and training, the role of the supervisor and other program elements of value to the safety manager.
- Aircraft Accident Investigation
Detailed evaluation of methods and procedures of aircraft accident investigations. Analysis of organization, duties and procedures of the Aircraft Accident Board. Functions and techniques of the trained accident investigator and role of the specialized laboratory. Analyses of reporting procedures and follow-up work designed to avoid like or related aircraft accidents.
- Corporate Aviation Operations
Examination of the establishment and operations of a corporate flight department. Study of the procedures and techniques generally accepted as standards by professional corporate flight operations. Overview of the corporate aviation mission of management mobility and use of available resources.
- Aviation Legislation (Rules & Regulations)
Survey of state, federal and international regulation of the aviation industry. Examination of historical and current events, past and present legislation, conventions and treaties, with emphasis on the historical and legislative aspects as they correlate to the development and control of aviation.
- Corporate & Business Aviation
Study of the operation of a corporate flight department with stress on the value of management mobility. Analysis of aircraft and equipment evaluation, maintenance, flight operations, administration, and fiscal considerations.
